About Tauranga Moana Rainbow Collective
We’re a small grassroots group made up of three people who came together at the start of 2025 after realising there wasn’t any Pride Month planned in our region. We’re just everyday people who care about our community, doing what we can to make sure the rainbow community has visibility, connection, and space to feel seen and supported.
We act as an umbrella organisation, here to tautoko and support others rather than run things ourselves. Our focus is on helping connect people, backing the mahi already happening in the community, and supporting individuals and groups to bring their ideas to life. We’re also supported by other members of the community who share their time, energy, and skills with us.
We’re a not-for-profit and run this with next to no funding, outside of our full-time jobs. We don’t generally run our own events - instead we show up where we’re needed, support what’s already happening, and do our part to help build a stronger, more connected rainbow community.
